Kumar Sanu's Daughter Shannon K On Facing RACISM in Western Countries; 'I Have Been Bullied A Lot In My Childhood, I Would Come Back Home Crying’
Veteran singer Kumar Sanu's daughter Shannon K has opened up about facing racism in western countries and how she was made to feel like a “lesser being” because she was different from most of the people around her. In a new interview, Shannon revealed that she shifted to London with her mother at a very young age and she took her music training from there only. During her early days, she suffered from a lot of racism in US and in UK- where she had spent most of her growing up years.

While speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, the budding singer made a shocking revelation that she had gone through a lot of mental stress and that she has been bullied during her childhood. Shannon was quoted saying, “I face a lot of mental stress in real life, I have been bullied a lot in my childhood. We often face racism in western countries. I remember I was made to feel like a lesser being when I went for auditions because I was different from most of the people around.” She added, “I was too young to handle it all well. I would come back home crying, and my confidence was often shattered due to these incidences. I had to prove myself, not just as an artist, but also as a human being.”

Kumar Sanu's daughter also mentioned that she has now learned to deal with it. She also expressed her desire to make a song about it someday to promote Indian culture all over the world.

For the unversed, Kumar Sanu adopted Shannon in 2001 but kept it a secret fearing societal judgment. Meanwhile, in terms of work, Shannon K made her singing debut with the single titled ‘A Long Time’, which was written and produced by Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber’s frequent collaborator, Jason Poo Bea Boyd.
